    Karen Carpenter drum album...

Post by Admin on Fri Mar 19, 2010 3:34 am

One thing I would have loved to see done was for Karen to record an all instrumental drum album. Maybe something like Sandy Nelson or Gene Krupa.

Of course at least one KC vocal would be a nice addition...

That would have been fantastic, Rick. I listen to the instrumentals Caravan and Iced Tea over and over just to hear Karen on the drums. She's amazing!

Look at the joy on her face.

yes a whole album would be nice strangers in the night and every little thing from the RCA sessions were also a nice listen in addition to the singles already mentioined there are probably enough instrumrntal recordings for a record of instrumrntals featuring Karen on drums to be released if there was a market for them. Rick if you look in your Carpenter archives you could actually make your own compilation of instrumentals not quite what you had in mind in your post but just an idea,

You are so right E... I have enough instrumental material (featuring Karen's drums) to fill a short compilation.

In my archives (collection) I have the following songs

Strike Up The Band Medley (I would use the version from the Space Encounters TV Special as it does not have the in concert introductions)

    The Girl From Ipanema

    Strangers In The Night

    Every Little Thing

    Caravan

    Iced Tea

    Flat Baroque

All I Can Do (This is my choice for the vocal track... which also features Karen's drum work quite well)

It's a short but entertaining compilation...
